On the most recent episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, the feud between sisters-in-law Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga took a turn for the nastier when Teresa accused Melissa of being a gold digger.
In a new interview, Melissa is now defending herself stating she married Joe Gorga for love and not for money. “When I hear her call me pretty much a gold digger, it’s like putting a knife in my heart and twisting it, because I know that she knows that’s not true,” Melissa told E! News.
Melissa continued, “Joe and I have been married for seven years and have three kids.” She goes on to add that she has stuck by Joe through financial difficulty. “We went through a time where we couldn’t even buy diapers. We had to sell every house we lived in…Did I go anywhere? Would I ever? No. It hurts me that she would even put that out there, to put that in someone’s head. And it doesn’t even hurt me as bad as it hurts her brother,” said Melissa.
Melissa also revealed that while she got along with Teresa in the beginning, they were never really BFFs. “Before the show came around, Teresa and bumped heads, but we always worked it out,” she said. “It wasn’t like we hated each other. We’d always be in the same rooms, but we never were best friends. You know, some people just don’t click.”
And similar to Tre, Melissa states she is also getting into the liquor business. “I have a champagne that I’m coming out with,” she said. “It’s called Magnifica Giornata and it stands for ‘magnificent day.’ It’s like a motto, ‘Every day’s a magnificent day.'” Seems like Ramona Singer has some competition coming her way!
Moving on to tonight’s all new super-sized episode of the RHONJ. On the 7th episode this season titled “Teresa’s Got a Gun,” Teresa and Melissa attempt to make peace, after which some of the gang journey to the Catskills. Back in the Garden State, Kathy savors the flavor of scouting for restaurants and Melissa prepares for a holiday dance recital. This spins into motion a family reunion that won’t include Teresa.
The episode airs at 10/9c and a preview clip is below. And finally, Melissa, who was in Los Angeles this week to do press for the show, linked up with OC housewives Tamra Barney and Peggy Tanous on Friday. “At a club w/ Melissa and Joe from jersey… I luv them!” tweeted Tamra.
